In India as compared with the other states, Punjab is one of the states with the major problem of female foeticide. In Punjab, after survey, every ninth house will be affected from this cactus. In Punjab, birth of every fifth girl is not possible. And when compared with the other serious problems, this is one of the most dangerous problems to be considered. So to get rid of such problems, Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Member of Parliament, started Nanni Chahn Campaign in August 2008.
With the growth and arrival of such campaign, steadily standard of females, their life styles and the ratio of male and female is improving. In 2001, the ratio of male to female is 791/1000 but with the Nanni Chahn campaign, in 2012 it is 848/1000.This campaign is doing tremendous jobs with positivity in different schools, colleges and other institutions.
In August 2009, it is now called as Nanni Chahn Cell. With Nanni Chahn Cell, the team regularly visits the villages to guide the pregnant women regarding their health, food and different problems.
In addition to this, the duty of cell is also to make environment clean and healthy, so this cell distributes plants to the college students for their growth and maintenance. From time to time, this cell works for the maintenance of plants to make the college campus clean and green. Dedicated to International Women day, this cell organized a seminar on the topic “Ajoki Aurat: Dash ate Disha”, held on 10th march, 2015. On this function the dignataries are Chairperosn “Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Dr. Harshinder Kaur, Dr. Madanjeet Kaur suhota, Dr. Ravinder Kaur, Mrs. Sarabjeet Kaur Mangat shared their precious views and suggestions to the public.
The duty of this cell is to improve the status of a female, to make environment clean, green and healthy which the cell is proving from the last years.
