NSS- Guru Nanak College for Girls

The National Service Scheme was started to establish a meaningful linkage between students and community.  On September 24, 1969, the then Union Education Minister Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao launched the NSS program in 37 Universities covering all states of the country. The motto of NSS is “NOT ME BUT YOU”.  To pursue this motto, NSS Unit set up was in the college in 1971 with one unit.  The program officers did their best to promote NSS among students by organizing several programs related to social welfare.  After seeing the commendable work done by NSS Unit, another Unit under self finance scheme was allotted to the college in 2008. 

Currently the two units of NSS are running in the college headed by Ms. Kamaljeet Kaur and Ms. Rimpjeet Kaur.


  • NSS unit of college organizes various rallies to celebrate National  Days to spread the awareness on social issues in society.
  • It organizes seven days camp in Autumn Break  and from time to time one day camps are organized in College Campus and neighbourhood. 
  • Extension Lectures and Seminars are organized for volunteers.
  • Donations to National Foundation for Communal Harmony for assistance of children rendered orphan or destitute in communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence for their care, education and training for their complete rehabilitation and Contribution towards Armed Forces Flag Day Fund for the welfare of dependants of martyrs and ex servicemen, who have sacrificed for the defense of country are made.


  • Ms. Harpreet Kaur, student of B.A final participated in Republic Day parade from Jan. 01, 2014 to Jan. 31, 2014.
  • Ms. Karamjeet Kaur, student of B.A IInd sem. got best volunteer award in inter college NSS camp held at Fatehgarh Sahib from Dec. 23, 2015 to Dec. 29, 2015.
