About the Department

The Department of Chemistry is recently established in 2024. Earlier, all the science streams of college work collaboratively under Department of Basic Sciences. It is currently headed by Ms. Kirandish Kaur, Assistant Professor in Chemistry. The department is covered under Star College Scheme of DBT, New Delhi, Govt. of India. Chemistry is the central science that can be related to all other fields of science and technology. At the Chemistry Department, we are passionate about exploring the fundamental chemical science that shapes our world. The Department of Chemistry offers B.Sc. Non-Medical and B.Sc. Medical and is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of chemical sciences that govern the physical world. Our mission is to provide students with a comprehensive education that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications in chemistry. Our faculty, staff, and students are dedicated to advancing the frontiers of knowledge in chemistry through hands-on learning, academic excellence, and innovative research. With state-of-the-art laboratories, and a faculty comprising experienced professionals, we encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry among our students. Students in our programs explore a broad spectrum of topics from organic and inorganic chemistry to physical and analytical chemistry. Our curriculum is designed to help students develop both their theoretical understanding and their practical problem-solving skills, preparing them for challenges in various scientific fields. The department organizes various expert lectures, workshops, seminars, conferences, camps to provide in-depth knowledge and insights on a specific subject area by bringing in a professional with extensive expertise in that fields sponsored by different funding agencies DBT, New Delhi; DST, New Delhi; IANCS-BARC, Mumbai and CDC, PU Chandigarh. We also organize educational/industrial visits for advanced practical knowledge to our students.
