History of the department

Department of Botany offers B. Sc. Medical where the students study about the various aspects of Botany, Chemistry and Zoology. Students are imparted knowledge about plants and their internal structure and physiology using various Audio-Visual aids. They receive hands-on training in all the experiments. An educational trip is organized annually which enables them to understand about the Environment and Flora of the region.

Botanical Garden:
A Botanical Garden was established in 2011. It is home to more than 60 plant species and a haven for various birds and insect species. The students are able to understand their morphology and ecological significance by seeing the plant species up and close.

Vermicompost Unit:
A Vermicompost Unit was established in 2017 under the leadership of Dr. Mandeep Kaur Dhillon to utilize the waste of the College and create ‘Black Gold’. A Short Term Course in Vermicomposting is organized annually since 2017 during which the students are taught about the technique of Vermicompost formation.
